The witnessing here is personal as well as historical. Represented are Willie Mays, then playing with the New York Giants, as well as Leo Durocher, the coach of the Giants at that time. Also seen are Durocher’s then wife, Larraine Day, who was currently represented by Bertram Allenberg of the William Morris Agency, my grandfather.

All photographs taken by my grandfather were exposed using a stereoscopic camera, resulting in card-mounted photographs that render three-dimensional images when placed in a specialized viewer, and whose film (and viewer!), I had inherited.
